The All-Party Parliamentary Group for Looked After Children and Care Leavers explored careers and employability to help care experienced young people into work.

Care leaver charity Become, who were involved in setting up the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Looked After Children and Care Leavers in 1998 report on outcomes from the group’s October meeting.

The five key messages from the panel of care experienced adults and the audience which came out during the meeting were:

  • Exposure is important.
  • Be vocal and believe in yourself.
  • Create a supportive environment.
  • Train employers.
  • Challenge and hold to account.
