In a report published March 2017, the National Children’s Bureau (NCB) reports on research around the number of children not receiving an education, either in school or at home.
A Freedom of Information request found that 33,262 children were recorded as missing education in the academic year 2014-15. However the NCB’s research suggests the real number of children who are not being educated may be significantly higher. Evidence suggests that children missing education may be at greater risk of abuse, exploitation and neglect than their peers. Download the full report from here – NCB Report.
